Talk To Me

If you have something to add to the site (suggestions, pictures of pets (looking at Keith and Heather), or something everybody needs to see. Tell me. I'll check my jkhfamily email pretty consistantly. I'm also occasionally on the jabber server. If I'm on (and not smack dab in the middle of stuff for work) I'll talk.

Welcome:

Sigh, Connection Issues

Well, I've been frustrated all this time with why I'm logged out of several sites I leave up over night. I happen to be up @0230 on Sunday the 10th to find out something fairly annoying. The cable modem lost it's connection for about 5 minutes. Looking at my BOINC error logs, it seems to have a connection issue somewhere between 2 and 3 am several nights in the last two months I've had it on my machine. I'm not sure yet, but it looks like the cable company does late night work that resets our connection. One more reason to move the site off the home connection. Dad's major work project finishes this month. I'll be at him again to get us to a public host come next month.

Challenge: JKHLogo!

So I'm lazy and need some help. Dad wants a good image of the JKH logo for the site (and other things) and he keeps poking me with "it might need this" or "maybe that". I make changes occasionally but I just don't get much done on it. So here's what I need:

Logo Requirements:

  • Digital Image (format unimportant)
  • 300x300 pixles
  • White or Transparent Background
  • Must be a fair representation of the old family logo (ask your parents or grandmother what that means)
  • A short description, including who, the idea, time to do.

If you must draw it by hand, and don't have a way to scan it at home... draw two copies, and get one to me with your description. (Mail or hand delivery's fine.) Also, let me know its coming ASAP! I plan on putting something up for everybody to see. With a chance to pick one near the end. Don't wait too long. I'm planning on putting something up before Christmas.

Other suggestions of what you want on the site would be greatly appreciated. I'm expanding my web-mastering knowledge beyond basic HTML and CSS... but it's slow... I'm having just as hard a time learning a technique as I am finding good ones for what people want to do. Also, dad is looking at moving (physically) the site to servers somewhere else. www.hub.org is his current prospect-of-choice. We can't really make up our minds about which service package. Right now me and dad are talking about splitting the cost between just the pair of us.

Thanks again!
